Properties：It is a white crystalline powder. Melting point: 79~85℃, Boiling point: 210~212℃. Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, ether, toluene, chloroform. It is easy to absorb moisture. 

Uses：5-Methyl-1H-benzotriazole is mainly used as rust inhibitor and corrosion inhibitor of copper and copper alloy (or silver, lead, nickel, zinc, etc.). It can form insoluble stable complex compound with cuprous ions, which adsorb on the metal surface and forming a layer of stable and inert protective film, so that the copper alloy has been protected. In addition to copper alloys, it also has a certain protective effect on stainless steel, cast iron, cadmium and nickel alloys. It is often used in combination with a variety of scale inhibitor, bactericidal and algal killing agents in industry, which can enhance the corrosion inhibition effect of closed circulating cooling water system. 5-Methyl-1H-benzotriazole can also be used in oil additive, lubricating oil additive, automotive antifreeze, with good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, rust resistance and other properties.
