PropertiesIt is a white needle or flake crystals, when the temperature is higher than 35, it is a colorless and transparent liquid. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol, ether, ketone and other organic solvents. Melting point: 35~36 , Boiling point: 248, Refractive index: 1.4158 (50), Specific gravity: 1.321g/cm3, Viscosity: 1.90mpa.s (40), Flash point: 160.

UsesEthylene carbonate is a kind of organic solvent with excellent performance, which can dissolve a variety of polymers, such as polyacrylonitrile, polyvinyl chloride, etc. High purity Ethylene carbonate can be used as the electrolyte solvent for lithium-ion battery. It can also be used as an organic intermediate to replace ethylene oxide for dioxylation, and it is the main raw material for the production of Dimethyl carbonate by transesterification. In medicine, it is offen used as a raw material for synthesizing Furazolidone. Besides, it can be used as a solvent for removing acid gas and additive for concrete, sodium silicate paste, fiber finishing agent, etc. In addition, it can also be used as an active intermediate in the production of synthetic lubricating oils, greases and plastic foaming agents.
